A fugitive on the run for a decade was apprehended on Tuesday after taking a hostage during a two-hour tense standoff with police in Nevada.
Investigators followed a lead and found 30-year-old David Nguyen at an apartment complex in Henderson, according to the Las Vegas Sun. When Nguyen took a hostage, a SWAT team was called.
Nguyen surrendered at approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and the hostage was unharmed. He is being held at the Henderson Detention Center and is expected to be extradited to Arizona, where he is wanted for armed robbery, aggravated armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and drug possession, according to the Sun.
Nguyen had eluded authorities for 10 years before he was pinned down in Henderson.
A tense standoff in Henderson, Nev., ended without incident on Tuesday.
“This prompt and successful investigation is another example of how effective the combined resources of participating task force agencies can be in making our community a safer place,” said U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield in a statement, according to the Sun.
“We appreciate the continued effort, dedication and hard work by all our law enforcement partners with quickly removing felons from our community and bringing them to justice.”
